A workshop designed to examine the essential communication skills for a well conceived and delivered presentation.
“There are always three speeches for every one you actually gave. The one you practiced, the one you gave, and the one you wish you gave.” – Dale Carnegie
It is said that our greatest fear is that of standing up in front of people to give a speech or a presentation; followed only by the fear of snakes and death. So the logic goes that we’d rather die of a snake bite than speak in public. Even those who are most successful at public speaking will confess all the nerves and stress associated with giving presentations or speeches still exist; they have just learnt how to make the best use of these very natural human responses.
In being a successful public speaker you will deliver your subject matter whilst calling upon knowledge and skills from many fields of study. These fields of study may include physiology, psychology, learning theory, stress management, computer applications and design.
Even the best ideas will be wasted unless they can be communicated with impact. This means making sure that your messages are clear, concise and memorable. It also means equipping yourself with the essential communication skills you need to deliver a well conceived message and an outstanding, confident presentation performance.
Our Approach:
The workshop is deliberately designed to give participants as much coaching and individual learning as is possible which is why we restrict the numbers for each workshop to 8 participants. The workshop includes the use of targeted learning exercises and presenting activities which enhance the skills and confidence participants will use in their definitive presentation.
Prior to attending, each person is asked to undertake an assignment by preparing a presentation that they will bring with them to the workshop. During the workshop, individuals will learn how to improve their presentation and they will deliver it once more towards the end of the workshop when it will be evaluated using known performance delivery criteria.
Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop is to learn the essential communication skills to create and deliver a presentation that generates the “WoW!” factor from their audience.
Objectives:
This workshop is ideally suited for anyone, who by the end of the workshop will need to be able to:
- Identify the essential ingredients of a good presentation
- Design a presentation using the four stage iceberg model

- Prepare your story, record it and identify the top 5% of points essential to cover in the presentation
- Select and demonstrate the appropriate use of visual aids by judging the added value that each may give to the presentation
