The Essential Communication Skills Workshop

A workshop designed to master the essential communication skills that will increase our success and effectiveness when relating to others in and out of work.

“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”  – George Bernard Shaw

Communication is said to have been be successful when the message has been sent and received with little or no ambiguity and the receiver then decodes the message and gives the sender feedback with little or no ambiguity. Effort is required by both parties. In fact, communication is only successful when both the sender and the receiver understand the same information as a result of the communication.
Tremendous confusion occurs (when distortions have not been detected) that could potentially lead to wasted effort, missed opportunities or even conflict, when this error-ridden process becomes muddled by either the sender or the receiver.
By successfully getting your message across, you convey your thoughts and ideas effectively and have a stronger ability to influence others with those ideas and that thinking. When not successful, the thoughts and ideas that you actually send do not necessarily reflect what you really think, causing all sorts of communication breakdown leading to interpersonal grid-lock that stand in the way of your ability to influence others both personally and professionally.

In a recent survey conducted by the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Business School of recruiters in the U.S. from companies with more than 50,000 employees, points out that communication skills, are the main factor contributing to job success.
